Eid-Fitr: Read Carefully, You Will Be Inspired By This

This most inspired Eid message to all muslims and everyone around the globe was shared by a Whatsapp user on our Whatsapp platform for everyone to reflect upon as, today marks the end of the most blessed month.

A Muslim is happy in two ways when he breaks his fast. Happy that he can eat after long period of abstinence, and more importantly  happy that he or she has succeeded in obeying Allah and will earn reward for it.

During the holy month, we all turned a new leaf by staying away from all that Allaah forbids us. However, it is unfortunate that some of us like suppressed springs return to heedlessness immediately the month ends.

Are you one of those who after Ramadan return to idolatry, inconsistent salat, terrorism, kidnapping, hooliganism, adultery, domestic violence, alcoholism? Is your own vice stealing, cheating, killing, lying etc?

Are you the corrupt politician, civil servant, employer, employee, trader, law enforcement officer etc? Are you that husband or father whose family hides when he returns home? The wife who does not have time to care for her family? The child who spites and insults his parents? Or one who does not uphold kinship ties? If you believe in Allah, His Prophet, and the Day of Judgement be reminded that Islam enjoins on you goodness not just in Ramadan but at all times and for all people.

I call on you to keep away permanently from whatever evil you took a temporary break from in Ramadan.

If we reflect, we will see that Ramadan and abstinence in the Holy month represents our life on earth and what our Creator requires of us. The end of the month can symbolically represent the end of life, and the only people who can celebrate will be those who have obeyed Allah on earth. May we be amongst the fortunate ones who will by this Ramadan succeed to be permanently reborn.

Spread the goodness to all

Fellow Muslims, we started this fast with a lot of non Muslims joining us to fast, some others shared gifts and sent greetings. Now that the month is over, and as we celebrate, let us not celebrate alone but extend the spirit of peace, unity, love and solidarity to these non Muslim relatives, neighbours etc. That is an age long tradition of the Lagos people, and one that I encourage us all in the nation to imbibe, especially at this period of tribal and religious tensions in the land.

Let us all love and be our brothers keeper. We all know that anyone who preaches hate, or asks us to kill a fellow human because that other person does not belong to our tribe or share our religious belief is definitely not of God but inspired by the Shaytan. If God wants all His enemies dead, do they think He in His might and majesty will need anyone's assistance?

Nigerians, please lets endeavor to live with each other in peace. No matter how well armed, or how populous any tribe or religious group is, it will not succeed in exterminating the other people and group. There are no winners in war, it only bring grief and pain to the two warring sides.

Message to Governments

We commend state governments, particularly Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of our state who has been active and responsive to the needs of His people. We pray for him and his cabinet, and pray for continuous peace and development in Lagos state and other states of the nation.

We commend the Federal government for an improved effort in fulfilling its promises to the electorate.

We commend them for their efforts in the area of the agricultural revolution, infrastructure development such as roads, rails, and the revamping of the age long abandoned projects nationwide. If these spates of development continue, Nigeria will soon return to its rightful place amongst the nations of the world.

We commend them for curtailing corruption and for the improved management of the security problems such as Boko Haram, Niger Delta militants, IPOB, armed robbery incidents etc. We ask them to improve on strategies to curb the farmers herdsmen clashes and killings.

We recommend that government support the masses with direct subsidy on common food items such as our locally produced rice and other staple foods, this will bring definitely go a long way in directly alleviating the food problems of the masses.

We recommend that government should use religious houses as points of reaching out to the poor and most vulnerable peoples of the society. We all know that Mosques and Churches are the first point of call for all troubled minds. Measures should be put in place to ensure that this system is not abused and the opportunities are well spread to intended destinations

Recognition of MKO Abiola

We want to also particularly thank the President of the Nation, President Muhammadu Buhari for his noble steps to right the wrong of the past, and heal the wound of June 12 1993 elections. May the souls of Chief MKO Abiola, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, and all who lost their lives in the course of struggle rests in peace. May Allah support their families, ameen.

 Legislature and Judiciary

We appeal to the legislature and judiciary to represent the people well by serving as true watchdogs of the executives. More importantly they should try and discharge their constitutional roles more diligently. May Allah continue to guide and be your support in discharging your duties effectively to our country, ameen

On cases of Drug Abuse by Our Youths

We ask parents at this period to be extra vigilant, and to take their primary responsibilities more seriously by paying closer attention to their children and wards. Government and relevant agencies such as NAFDAC and the police should step up efforts to save the lives of our youths from the greed and selfishness of makers and sellers of these destructive drugs.

On Democracy Day: Message to Politicians and Electorates

As the election period draws near, I implore our politicians not to heat up the system in desperation. The electorate should obtain their PVC and avoid selling their votes or to be used as tools to create mayhem in the nation.

By the next Ramadan, Insha Allah, the elections would have been over, we pray that Allah makes it peaceful and devoid of violence, we pray that we witness the next Ramadan and beyond in peace and good health.
